Detroit Auto Show

Antonio Filosa, Chief Executive Officer of Stellantis, tours the showroom floor at the 2026 Detroit Auto Show.

Fifteen years ago, on the tail end of a two week holiday internship at the Windsor Star, I was part of the coverage team assigned to the prestigious North American International Auto Show - an international media event beyond anything I’d experienced before.  It was January, 2011, and Sergio Marchionne, the new CEO of Chrysler Group LLC who took the reigns during the auto bailout period, showed up to present a message of momentum and growth.  He was holding roundtables and walking the floor, and due to Windsor’s important relationship with Chrysler, his coverage mattered a great deal.  After two long days of work in Detroit and before I made my way back up the 401 to finish my last semester in the Loyalist photojournalism program, I was ecstatic to see my photo of Marchionne splashed on the front page - my first front page photo at the Star.  Less then two months later, before school was even finished, I’d be working my first shift as a staff photographer at the paper.

It’s now 2026 and I’m no longer at the Star, but I’ve returned to what is now the Detroit Auto Show, working for Stellantis North America, photographing the new CEO, Antonio Filosa, a protege of Marchionne’s.
