The Green Bin Program

   Beginning in July, households in Essex, Lakeshore, LaSalle, Tecumseh and Windsor (phase 1 municipalities) will be receiving their Green Bin kit that includes, among other things, a 120L Green Bin and a 7L kitchen catcher.

   Collection in Phase 1 of the Green Bin Program begins the week of October 21, 2025 and will be on a weekly pick-up schedule, with garbage and recyclables being picked up bi-weekly.

   By diverting food waste away from the landfill, we will reduce harmful methane emissions and produce more eco-friendly fertilizer, thereby extending the lifespan of the region’s only active landfill.  More broadly, participating in the program will foster a shared sense of environmentalism, making us all stakeholders in the health of our region.
