Duelling Protests About Gender, Sexuality Education in Schools

The 1 Million March 4 Children, a nationwide rally against sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) education, started locally with speeches at Dieppe Gardens before marching down Ouellette to the Greater Essex County District School Board. As the protesters returned to Dieppe Gardens they were met by a few dozen counter-protesters standing on the corner of Riverside Drive West and Ferry Street. While a small number of police officers tried to maintain separation, eventually the tension between the two groups resulted in a few minor skirmishes. More police eventually arrived and ordered the protesters to the north side of Riverside Drive before traffic resumed, and the crowds slowly dispersed.
