Further North to Tahquamenon Falls
When one takes a road trip up north in Michigan and they exit the largely flat and mostly agricultural Saginaw glacial plane (look for it at Exit 190 on I-75) and enter Northern Michigan and further, the Upper Peninsula, not only are they entering a more natural untouched landscape filled with rolling hills and pine, but they’re entering a different political landscape. Where defiance to the left and a raw nationalism penetrates you at nearly every turn. It can often be as striking as the landscape. It’s not that the left isn’t present here. After all, they represent approximately 40% of the electorate. But they stay mostly hidden, like the animals that get hunted here.
